Hon. Consul General

Barr. (Dr.) T. O. Afolabi, MON. was appointed in 2010 as the Hon. Consul General of the Republic of Djibouti in Nigeria with jurisdiction all over the territory of the republic of Nigeria.


He is a well trained professional with over 20 years cognate experience in the maritime and shipping industry. No doubt his wealth of experience and organizational prudence have remained invaluable assets to Sifax Group. As a seasoned maritime consultant; he is a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Financial Management (NIFM), and the Institute of Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (IFFN), amongst many other professional qualifications he earned over the years which are indications of his experience and professional status in the industry.

He has attended several courses, seminars and workshops on ports operations and management and other maritime service related courses both locally and internationally. He has a Bachelor of law Degree from the University of Lagos and he is also a Solicitor and Advocate of Supreme Court of Nigeria. As a result of his exceptional performance and contributions to shipping business and to national economy, in 2008 he was bestowed with an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Technology at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomosho, Nigeria.

 

In 2010, Dr. Afolabi was bestowed with the award of Member of the Order of Niger (MON), by President Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in recognition of his contributions to national development.

Also in appreciation of his contributions to the maritime industry and the society at large, he has been honoured with over thirty (30) awards, amongst which are: Maritime Quality service Award (MQSA), 1997; Men of Achievement Award, 1998; ECOWAS international Gold Award 1999; Society Role Model and Corporate gold Award, 2004; Rotary Appreciation Award (Rotary Club Surulare South Lagos) 2007; Lions Club International Merit Award 2008.

Dr. Afolabi is the Founder and Chairman of Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation (AAAF), A Non- Governmental Organisation that was launched in 2008 in memory of his late mother, to care for widows and the education of the less priviledged in the society. He is happily married with children.
